Guide to Peratallada
The village of Peratallada is found just at the point of contact between the Gavarres hills and the lands of the plain of the Baix Emporda, to the left of the Grossa stream.
The village, which was declared a historic-artistic monument is one of the most important centres in Catalonia, with regard to mediaeval architecture. With an extraordinary attractiveness and beauty, it maintains its feudal appearance, with narrow, windy streets, with numerous exits and entrances, in which the fortified castle with its homage tower and the palace (11th-14th century), the walls (10th-13th century) and the church of Sant Esteve (Romanesque from the early 13th century) are noteworthy.
